1. What is the process for requesting home nursing visits?

To request our home nursing services you need to lodge a referral. You can send a quick email or fill in a referral form online and it will come directly to us. Alternatively you can call us on 1300 156 887. Anyone can place a referral and we will liaise with other health care professionals in the care team to maintain the best possible quality outcomes for our clients.

2. Am I eligible for companionship care?

Companionship care is for everyone! If you need companionship support to help you experience life - call us, we have a carer to suit you.

We work with other services to make sure your care is integrated into your life, your way. You can place a referral to us from home or while still in hospital. Referrals can be placed from family members, friends, family doctor, nurse or allied health care professional.

3. What support does Lotus offer?

Our qualified carers are trained in disability, health and community care and are specially chosen to maximise the experience for people with higher care needs.

We provide companionship service to Eltham Retirement Centre, select aged care facilities, people who live in their own home and people in supported residential care within the aged and disability sector.

4. Do I (or my family member) qualify for in home care or support?

Lotus Nursing and Lotus Companionship Care is a fully private company that caters for people in need of nursing care, health education and support, dementia care and companionship care in the comfort of their own home. You are welcome to an obligation free discussion to see if the service is what is best.

5. How do I place a referral for my family member?

Anyone can place a referral and we will liaise with other health care professionals in the care team to maintain the best possible quality outcomes for our clients.

6. What happens after we decide to engage the Lotus service?

We obtain details that assist us to determine a client's individual needs. This is called a Client Service Agreement. We then complete a client assessment which includes health history details, the home environment and other support service details to help us fine tune our service for our clients.

7. How long will the service continue?

The service can be engaged for as long as you wish. We make a recommendation for care and support. Many of our clients prefer their own carer or combination of carers which we work with the client to maintain. This enhances the quality of our service.

8. How far do the Lotus nurses and carers travel?

Our team cover the greater Melbourne area. As a general rule we travel 25km from the Melbourne CBD in a circular zone, however, it's best to discuss your location details with us to clarify. We can also provide assistance for people who require medical and care support when they travel on holidays or to another country for medical reasons. You can ask us about this too.

9. What kind of home environment do Lotus nurses and carers go to?

Our staff are highly trained to work in all care environments including your home residence, supported accommodation including retirement villages, hostels and aged care facilities and community homes for the disabled. We provide care for younger to older people in a variety of care settings.

10. How will the service be paid?

Once an assessment is completed and a service agreement is signed, we ask for direct debit or Paypal details for payment. After the initial upfront payment, debits are processed on a weekly basis. Our services are charged from a minimum of half hour to 24 hour care and sleepover stays. Our staff will work on public holidays and weekends if required.
